Pig iron export from Russia dropped in January-August 2020 as its domestic consumption increased.
Russia exported 2.447mn mt of pig iron through the first eight months of this year, decreasing by 19pc compared with the same prior-year period, according to Russian customs data. However, export of the material rose by 52pc in August to 428,000mt from the same month last year.
Pig iron production in Russia increased by 4pc to 35.18mn mt during the period under review, according to worldsteel. The country is the fourth-largest producer of pig iron in the world after China, India, and Japan.
