Pig iron exports from Russia decreased in January-November 2020 amid improving demand for the material in the domestic market.

 

Russia exported 3.304mn mt of pig iron through the 11 months of last year, down 17.8pc from the same period in 2019, according to Russian customs data. In November 2020, exports of the material dropped significantly by 62.2pc to 103,000mt.

 

Russia’s pig iron output rose by 2pc to 47.30mn mt during the period under review, according to worldsteel. The country holds the fourth position in the world among the largest pig iron producers after China (812.90mn mt in January-November 2020), India (90.97mn mt), and Japan (55.96mn mt).
