Russia’s new car and light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales in November stood at 157,580 units, up by 5.9pc as compared to the prior-year period but declined slightly from October, according to data released by AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC).
The association noted that since summer, the weakened Ruble has been pushing the customer demand and, consequently, the vehicle sales in Russia.
It further said that since the new year shopping period has begun, the expected price changes by automakers have motivated customers towards faster purchase decisions.
In the first eleven months of the year (Jan-Nov, 2020), Russia’s car and LCV sales, however, fell by 10.3pc to 1.3mn units due to the impact and restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic in April and May across the globe.
Outlook
The association has said that it expects strong sales in December. It also said that due to the positive sales, its forecast for year-end sales of 1.5mn units looks even more realistic.
