Russian recyclers exported 1.62mn mt of ferrous scrap in January-May 2021 compared to 1.67mn mt in the same period of 2020, according to Russian Customs data.

 

In May 2021, scrap exports from Russia totaled 309,000mt, which was almost unchanged compared to the same month a year ago. The main outlet was Turkey, where shipments rose by 11pc to 161,000mt.

 

Scrap export from Russia to Belarus and South Korea decreased by 5pc and 11pc to 65,000mt and 39,000mt, respectively.

 

Ferrous scrap imports to Russia fell by 30pc to 328,000mt in January-May 2021, according to Customs data. The main supplier was Kazakhstan.
