Russian stainless steel imports in September increased by 7.5pc to 25,670mt from August, but declined by 26.2pc as compared to the prior year, according to the data provided by Russia’s SpetsStal Association.
The country’s cold-rolled steel product imports in September grew by 12.6pc to 14,880mt from August. Imports of hot-rolled flat products in September stood at 4,680mt, down by 3pc from August.
Long product and seamless pipe imports in September declined by 8.4pc and 9.9pc to 2,470mt and 1,340mt, respectively from the prior month.
In the Jan-Sep period, Russia’s main stainless steel product import volume increased by 8.7pc from the prior-year period.
In September, around 245 Russian companies imported stainless steel products worth $59.36mn from 34 countries across the globe.
The top stainless steel exporter to Russia was China, which contributed 35.6pc of the total import. It was followed by India with 19pc, then by South Korea with 8.8pc, Indonesia with 6.4pc, and then by Taiwan contributing 5.5pc.
