Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Indian manufacturer Runaya has commissioned its new aluminum dross recycling plant in Odisha, India, the first of its kind in the country.

According to media reports, the plant will be capable of processing 30,000mt of dross per year, which is half of the estimated volume generated from aluminum smelting across India. Annanya Agarwal, chief executive officer at Runaya, said that the company aims to shift the domestic aluminum supply chain from the linear-virgin materials model to circular-recycling methods.

The plant has a 100pc utilization rate with zero waste, while all other similar plants in India can only recover 50pc aluminum metal from smelting dross, per reports. Odisha has emerged as a fast-growing manufacturing hub for East India and continues to see additional private and public sector investments.
