Chinese Rizhao Steel company reported that its Arvedi #5 endless strip production (ESP) plant has completed the activation phase, moving to full scale production of 2.2mn mt per year with strips up to 1,300mm wide and 0.6mm thick. 

 

Primetals Technologies designed the new plant, incorporating the latest integrated automation technologies for use of liquid steel. The new plant enables Rizhao Steel to expand production of high-grade thin strip products and cold-rolled substitutes. Rizhao currently produces hot rolled coils, wire, robs, and I-beams for the domestic Chinese market. The caster segments and length were reengineered to increase production capacity beyond the originally planned volume. The design focuses on low energy consumption and carbon emissions goals. The Arvedi plant boasts of 40pc lower costs.

 

Rizaho Steel is located in the south of the Chinese Shandong providence 30km from the port of Rizhao and is part of the Rizhao Steel 

Holding group with 15mn mt in crude steel capacity.
