Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The state-owned RINL (Vizag Steel) shut its second blast furnace last week at its Vizag plant, amid a significant drop in domestic demand, raw-material and manpower shortage. It had already shut one blast furnace at the end of March.

The company is currently operating a third blast furnace at a minimum production level of around 4,000mt of hot metal per day.

RINL’s three blast furnaces have a combined production capacity of 21,000mt of hot metal per day.

RINL is a market leader in long products and caters to the requirements of the construction, manufacturing and automobile sectors.

It is the first shore-based integrated steel plant in India.
