Indian steelmaker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) or Vizag Steel plans to boost its steel production capacity by 40pc to 7.3mn mt by 2023-24, according to media reports.
The company had planned to produce 6.1mn mt of hot metal and 5.9mn mt of liquid steel in the current fiscal year, but the operations were disrupted amid COVID-19 related lockdown. RINL targets to produce 7.8mn mt of hot metal and 7.3mn mt of steel by 2023-24, said RINL Executive Director AK Singh.
Davis Index had previously reported about RINL and South Korean steelmaker Posco creating a joint working group (JWG) pertaining to 5mn mt greenfield steel plant in Vizag.
