French carmaker Renault may combine three of its factories in France into a single new entity called Renault ElectriCity for manufacturing electric vehicles (EVs) from January 1, 2022.

Renault ElectriCity will include three existing sites, the car assembly unit in Douai, the Ruitz gearbox manufacturing factory, and the commercial vehicles assembly plant in Maubeuge, according to media reports on Thursday.

The company noted to the media on June 2 that it plans to submit the new project to union representatives next week. However, Renault has yet to disclose more information on its future plans for the new entity.
