France’s Renault and China’s Geely have finalized a partnership to manufacture petrol-electric hybrid vehicles (HVs) under the former’s brand in China.

Although the companies did not disclose the exact volumes they plan to produce or a launch date for these vehicles, media reports on Aug 9 indicated that the new line-up will use technology, supply chains, and production facilities from Geely. Renault will oversee sales and marketing.

The new JV will also target China and South Korea to explore localizing the latter’s Lynk HV line-up. There are also plans to expand to other countries and the possibility of making completely electric vehicles, per media reports.
