Brazilian state-owned steel company, Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) is planning to restart blast furnace No. 2 at its Presidente Vargas mill in Volta Redonda in November, according to media reports citing the Brazilian Metallurgical Association Instituto Aco Brasil (IABR).

The annual crude steel production capacity of the blast furnace is 1.5mn mt. Overall, the company can produce up to 5.6mn mt of steel annually.

The blast furnace No.2 is one of the 13 BFs that were shut down in Brazil during the April-May period this year as steel demand declined due to the COVID-19 related restriction.
