Peruvian copper exports increased by 96.53pc in May compared to the same month last year amid a recovery in the Peruvian economy after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lima Chamber of Commerce reported.

 

Copper exports captured revenue of $ 1.1mn last month, while iron ore worth $201mn was exported from the South American country. Lead ore shipments grew by 89.25pc to $129mn in May on an annual basis, while zinc ore and concentrates’ exports more than tripled to reach $94mn during the same period.

 

Sales of Peruvian products abroad increased by 103.38pc overall in May compared to the same month last year to $4.1mn, going beyond the country’s pre-pandemic export level of $3.6mn in May 2019.
