Ola Electric, the electric vehicle arm of Ola, is set to start production of e-scooters, CEO Bhavish Agarwal announced on social media. The company had announced its plans in December last year.
A unit based in Tamil Nadu is set to be the largest two-wheeler manufacturing unit globally with a capacity to produce 10mn units per year.
The company expects the unit with 10 production lines and an internal battery manufacturing facility to reach full production capacity by 2022.
Ola Electric hopes to cater to 10-15 pc of the global requirement of two-wheelers.
A push for EVs (electric vehicles) will increase the demand for nickel and copper.
