Russian integrated steelmaker OEMK, a subsidiary of Metalloinvest, has completed a scheduled overhaul of one of its oldest mills, 700.
Rolling mill 700 has been in operation since 1987 and currently produces 2.4mn mt of long steel products and tubular, square billets. It ensures constant supply of semi-finished steel products for the domestic and export markets.
The overhaul included replacing bearing sets in vertical rolling mill No.3, along with the controller of the facility’s automated and mechanized parts. Repairs were conducted on the upper spindle of the duo-reversible stand and the foundation of the hot-cutting saw tugs.
In all, major technological upgrades have been made to monitor production in real-time and adapt the systems to work accordingly. This will ensure that OEMK can eliminate most operative inefficiencies.
