Nucor has purchased TrueCore LLC (TrueCore) in a bid to extend its product portfolio to the cold storage market.
The insulated metal panel manufacturing company, which has a facility in Laurens, South Carolina, had previously announced intentions to add insulated roof panels and a fire-rated line of panels to its product suite.
Chad Utermark, Nucor’s executive vice president, said that TrueCore was a strategic fit with Nucor’s Buildings Group, which already uses a high volume of insulated panels on the metal buildings it designs and manufactures.
TrueCore has 26 employees and has plans to expand its facilities in the US Midwest and West. Meanwhile, 2018 was Nucor’s most profitable year to date, with revenues increasing by 23.8pc to $25.076bn from $20.252bn it earned during the same period a year ago.
