Bloom, billet, and slab imports into the US declined 1.4mn mt in November 2019 compared to the previous month’s 2mn mt, according to the US Census Bureau. 

 

Conversely, hot rolled bar imports increased to 71,148mt in November from 57,229mt in October; cut plate imports rose to 36,186mt in November from 24,786mt in the previous month; and line pipe imports increased to 26,079mt in November from 17,177mt one month earlier.

 

The US saw a decrease in Brazilian imports, while imports from Russia, the Netherlands, and South Korea increased. Between January and October 2019, steel imports into the US decreased to 22.5mn mt compared to the same period in 2018 when imports totaled 26.7mn mt.
