Primary aluminum production in North America rose by 4.4 pc last month and during the first eight months of the year.
North American aluminum output totaled 2.77mn mt in from January through August from 2.65mn mt during the same period last year, while output from Canada alone rose by 7.8pc to 2.05mn mt from 1.91mn mt, partially offset by the US production 772,00mt, which fell short by 4.6pc from 765,605mt.
In the month of August, primary aluminum output in North America rose by 4.4pc to 350,871mt from 335,402mt last year. Canada’s volumes increased by 11.7pc to 269,557 over 241,296 in August 2019. However, production in the US declined by 15.7pc to 81,314mt from 94,106mt in the prior year period.
