Nornickel’s Kola division is installing 60 new electrolysis baths at its electrowinning plant which are worth RUB135mn ($1.8mn). 

 

The company stated that installing the new baths will help improve production losses and reduce costs as the old tanks which were installed in 2006-2007 have reached their end of their service life. 

 

Out of the 60 baths, 25 have already been installed and the whole project is expected to be complete by October this year. The company plans to install another 90 baths by next year, the Russian miner said in a statement. 

 

Kola mine represents 72pc and 18pc of the company’s total nickel and copper production. Its has a mineral resource base of 327.3mn mt of ore reserves with 2.3mn mt of nickel and 1.1mn mt of copper.
