Nornickel’s First Vice President- Operations Director, Sergey Dyachenko has resigned from his position after the nickel producer announced plans to terminate the Operations director position.
In an announcement on Monday, Nornickel said that it was removing the position of First Vice-President-Operations Director, which was a title for the head of its three divisions, Norilsk, Kola, and Trans Baikal, and that Dyachenko would be leaving the company.
The nickel producer stated that the three divisions would manage their operations separately henceforth in a bid to improve the company’s governance structure and increase its operational efficiencies.
The move comes days after an arbitration court awarded diesel spill damages of RUB146.2bn($1.97bn) to Rosprirodnadzor for an environmental incident in May 2020 in the Norlisk industrial area.
