England-based Materials Processing Institute has reopened its hi-tech Normanton Steel Plant and will resume steel production, according to the institute.
The institute had suspended operations in March 2020 amid COVID-19 related difficulties, like social distancing during operations.
The authorities are complying with all the safety guidelines to reduce the possibility of infection. The workforce is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
The facility produces a range or precision steel products including carbon, alloy, and stainless steels which caters to smaller orders that are uneconomic for larger plants. The plant also includes UK’s only small electric arc furnace for the commercial production of steel ingots.
