NLMK has started its new continuous casting machine (CCM-9) operations at its flagship facility in Lipetsk, which is located around 450 kilometers from Moscow, Russia.


The CCM will produce 1.8mn mt of steel annually at the site. The facility will produce a premium mix of steel components for wind turbines, marine vessels, oil drilling rigs, and large-diameter pipes for domestic use and export markets. 


The CCM-9 construction project took 14-months and cost RUB12bn ($164mn), the company said in a press release on Monday.


In June 2020, NLMK completed the construction of a new on-site logistics center at Lipetsk that can ship 1mn mt of products annually by road. The location also has rail access to ports and cost NLMK RUB3bn. 


NLMK produces 17mn mt of steel annually at its facilities in Russia, Europe, and the US.
