The Johnson County, Nebraska Board of Commissioners (County Commissioners) and NioCorp have struck a deal granting the miner a special use permit for its Elk Creek Superalloy Materials Project.
The NioCorp project is designed to minimally disrupt surrounding properties, as well as raise their values the company announced. Moreover, the County Commissioners determined that the project is compatible with agriculture use.
The miner for super alloy material for steel and aluminum also agreed to upgrade Johnson County’s Road 721, beginning from the Right of Way of State Highway 50 to the project site entrance. NioCorp will engineer, construct, and maintain the road for the County.
Additionally, it has exercised its purchase option on two parcels of land covering 469 acres, which involves legal agreements with southeastern Nebraska landowners. NioCorp has secured, in total, extension agreements on five parcels of land that cover more than 1,000 acres and which will be used in the project.
