Canadian firm Nickel Mines updated mineral reserve estimates at its Hengjaya Mine in Sulawesi, Indoneisa during Q3 2020, which led to its nickel grade rising by 0.1pc to 1.3pc while ferrous grading rose by 5pc to 28pc. It has also reached 80pc construction of internal roads, which will help minimize production delays, starting Q1 2021.
The company’s RKEF operation produced 69,830mt of nickel pig iron (NPI) in Q3 2020, trending almost flat from 69,602mt in the preceding quarter. Nickel metal production in Q3 rose by 5.8pc to 10,700mt over 10,103.9mt in the previous quarter.
Of the total output, Hengjaya’s NPI contribution declined by 1pc 33,831mt over Q2 2020 while its nickel production increased by 3.2pc to 5,143.3mt. Meanwhile, the Ranger Nickel operation contributed 36,449mt of NPI and 5,557mt of nickel up 2.6pc and 8pc over the prior quarter, respectively.
