Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Australian nickel miner, Nickel Mines has signed an MOU with Shanghai Decent to modify two of its four RKEF lines in order to produce a nickel matte product for usage in the EV industry.

The company’s partner Tsingshan had recently announced it signed a one-year contract with Huayou Cobalt and CNGR Advanced Material to supply 100,000mt of nickel matte product starting from October this year as potential diversification into the EV battery supply chain market. Therefore, Nickel Mines’ plan to modify two of its RKEF lines will help the company fulfill its demand requirements, it stated.

Nickel Mines expects the $1mn per line modification to be completed for production and delivery by the fourth quarter of this year.
