Mitsui Mining and Smelting plans to increase sales in its metals and engineered material divisions in FY2020 ending on March 31, 2021.
The company forecast its total engineered material division sales for FY2020 at JPY194bn against actual sales of JPY167.8bn in FY2019. Its projected sales in the metals segment in FY2020 stood at JPY189bn compared to JPY161.1bn achieved in FY2019.
In Q4 2020, Mitsui has projected engineered material sales to rise to JPY54.4bn from JPY42.7bn during the same quarter in the previous fiscal. Its metals segment sales for Q4 FY2020 are expected at JPY53.1bn from JPY39.5bn in Q4 FY2019.
The company’s total sales of engineered materials in the first three quarters of the fiscal tallied at JPY139.5bn compared to JPY125.1bn during the same period in FY2019. The miner’s sales in the metal division during this period stood at JPY135.9bn against JPY121.6bn in April-December 2019.
Mitsui’s sales of engineered materials in Q3 FY2020 tallied at JPY53.5bn up from JPY42.8bn in Q3 FY2019 while its metals division sales rose to JPY47.9bn from JPY38bn during the same period.
Its operating income for the engineered materials division in the first three quarters of the fiscal rose to JPY16.7bn from JPY11bn in April-December 2019 while its operating income for the metals division increased to JPY14.7bn from JPY2.1bn during the same timeframe.
