The value of Mexican manufacturing and automotive exports rose in September on an annual basis due to higher demand from the US.

 

Mexico exported manufacturing products worth $35.2bn in September, up 4.3pc from the same prior-year period, the National Statistics Agency (Inegi) said in a statement without disclosing last year’s values.

 

However, the agency noted that manufacturing products exports increased on higher demand for machinery and equipment for several industries. In fact, the exports of these products rose by 6.7pc in September from the same month last year, Inegi indicated without disclosing volumes.

 

Automotive shipments from Mexico rose by 0.2pc to $12.55bn last month from September 2019 as a result of higher sales to the US.

 

Mexico’s car production decreased by 5.4pc to 301,426 cars in September, from 318,906 cars in September 2019, according to Inegi data.
