The Mexican Secretariat of Economy has imposed definitive anti-dumping (AD) duties on aluminum foil imports from China following an investigation.

 

Duties on aluminum foil exported to Mexico were set at prices below $3.4817 per kilogram, the economy ministry said in a resolution published in the country’s official gazette.

 

Duties will be capped following the investigation into the companies’ export price practices.

 

The Mexican authorities set a cap of $0.17968 per kilogram on the Chinese company Hangzhou Five Star Aluminium Co Ltd.; $0.6588 per kilogram for Jiangsu Zhongji Lamination Materials Co, Ltd.; and $1.1634 per kilogram for Boxing Ruifeng Aluminium Co, Ltd., as well as other exporters.

 

The probe began in May 2018 after a request from Almexa Aluminio, S.A. de C.V., which three plants in the country and a casting and rolling capacity of more than 70,000mt per year, according figures from the company.

 

The products affected are classified under tariff 7607.11.01, according to data from the country’s official gazette.
