Mining tools manufacturer Metso Outotec has signed a supply contract with Zijin Mining for the latter’s Qulong copper mine.
According to media reports, the agreement entails Metso delivering a 58MW grinding circuits with both horizontal and vertical automated ore processing capabilities. The Qulong mine is located in Tibet, where Zijin Mining has ascertained that there are mineral deposits in excess of 10mn mt.
Once the project is complete, the concentrate producing plant at the mine will operate at an ore-processing rate of 150,000mt annually. This will make Zijin Mining the largest copper concentrate producer in China.
