Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Japan’s Mazda plans to halt output temporarily for 10 days in July as the global semiconductor chips shortage continues.

The carmaker’s Hofu no. 1 plant in southwest Japan’s Yamaguchi prefecture will suspend operations from Jul 5-9 and Jul 12-16, per media reports on Wednesday.

Mazda had already estimated a global production loss of around 100,000 vehicles this year after factoring in the short supply of chips, in a separate media statement in May.
