Japanese carmaker Mazda plans to introduce its electric vehicle platform in 2025 and launch its full range of EV vehicles by 2030.


The new platform called Skyactiv EV Scalable Architecture will complement its platform for internal combustion engines. The latter will be overhauled to provide electrification solutions for its customers and the electric power generation infrastructure market, the company said while launching its Mid-term business strategy on Jun 17.


The company initially plans to launch five hybrid and two EV models between 2022 and 2025 in Japan, Europe, China, the US, and ASEAN countries before the full range of EVs are introduced. Mazda plans to have some form of electrification for all its models by 2030 and of all cars produced by the company, 25pc are expected to be EVs.
