Malaysian auto manufacturer Proton Holdings Bhd’s auto sales in March 2021 stood at 14,989 units, up by 26.2pc from the previous month (Feb 2021), witnessing the best monthly sales since September 2013, the company informed in a statement.
The company said that it attributed 23.5pc to the total auto sales market share in March, retaining the second position in the sales rankings table in Malaysia.
The company’s top-selling car in March remained the Proton Saga, delivering 5,589 units, up by 32.5pc from the preceding month.
In the first three months of the year (Jan-Mar, 2021), the company produced 32,826 units, its highest quarterly market share figure since March 2012.
The company said that it expects to sell over 63,000 units in 2021.
It said that it will strive to increase production while maintaining its focus on delivering high-quality models.
Malaysia’s tax scheme (Penjana) will expire by June end, hence the company is aiming to ensure all customers are able to take advantage of the tax incentives, it added.
Malaysian consumers are buying vehicles to take benefit from the Penjana scheme which allows a reduction in sales tax.
