Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) has initiated sunset review of anti-dumping duties on pre-painted, painted or colour coated steel coil imported from China and Vietnam, according to an announcement on January 29.
The review investigation is a response to a plea filed by the petitioner CSC Steel alleging that imports of steel coils originating from China and Vietnam are being dumped at a lower price than their domestic selling price. It requested the government to continue the imposition of duties.
The petitioner also claimed that imports from these countries have increased causing material damage to Malaysia’s domestic producers.
After evaluation and considering the evidence, the ministry would submit the final determination in conformity with the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 within 180 days from the date of initiation.
