Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has initiated a review on anti-dumping (AD) duty levied on cold-rolled coils (CRC) of alloy and non-alloy steel imported from Vietnam.

The move comes in response to a plea filed by a domestic producer, Mycron Steel, who cites dumping margin on the said products, especially those imported from Vietnam has considerably changed from the previous administrative review finalized on May 8, 2019.

The original investigation was initiated on Aug 27, 2015, with anti-dumping duties levied on imports of CRCs from the People’s Republic of China (China), Republic of Korea (ROK), and Vietnam from May 24, 2016, till May 23, 2020. Duty rates were between 0-42.08pc.

MITI has requested answers to its questionnaires from interested parties to be submitted before Aug 12, 2020 and provide supporting evidence by Aug 27. In case of no response, the government would make initial decisions based on the facts available.
