Lundin Mining has halted underground mine production in Sweden after a fire broke out at its Zinkgruvan operation.

The company noted that there were no casualties and that the fire, which broke out earlier in the week, has been fully extinguished. However, the miner is still assessing the damage and indicated it was too early to determine the impact on the mine or give a timeline to restart operations. The Zinkgruvan surface mining operations are continuing as usual.

Lundin has also closed its concentrating facilities at the mine for scheduled maintenance, the company announced in a statement.

The Zinkgruvan mine produces zinc, lead, copper, and silver. Lundin has estimated that the mine will produce 77,000-82,000mt of zinc and 3,000-4,000mt of copper in 2020, according to its website.
