NLMK’s Lipetsk plant accepted the first batch of the main technological equipment for the construction of its continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit No 5 (ANGTs-5) from Italy’s Tenova. The 450,000mt annual capacity facility was previously announced in August 2020.
The RUB12bn ($164mn) project expands the facility’s product line with thin and high-strength rolled products with degrees of corrosion protection through galvanization. The products with various types of protective coatings and strengths will be targeted for automotive, appliances, and construction.
Installation of machinery is scheduled for Q3 2021 in a separate building that is under construction. The Lipetsk site has a 1.25mn mt annual capacity of galvanized products at four units presently operating. The unveiling of ANGTs-5 in 2022 will add to the present output.
