Australian mining company Lindian Resources has identified maiden resource of high alumina grade for Bouba Plateaux at its Gaoul Bauxite Project in Guinea.
The total resources as per JORC code are 102mn mt with 49.8pc aluminium oxide which includes around 84mn mt (51.2 pc) of high-grade aluminium oxide. The resources are at the surface and are easily mineable, the company said.
JORC code is Australian Code for reporting of exploration results, mineral resources and ore reserves.
Cube Consulting conducted 874 meters drilling at 131 shallow holes at the site, the company reported. Silicon dioxide present in fine-grained quartz form can be easily reduced through a simple screening process and thus aluminium oxide can be raised with minimal tonnage loss.
Lindian Resources will now be focusing on identifying resources at adjacent Mamaya plateau.
