Equipment for slab sizing to customer specifications has also been installed in the plant.
In late 2019, HBIS announced plans for a 20mn mt annual capacity Laoting Iron & Steel project. Blast furnace (BF) No 2 was put in operation in November 2020 and No 1 in September of the same year. BF No 3 was placed in operation by January 2021 for a total production capacity of 7.3mn mt between the three BFs.
