Indian steelmaker Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) is expanding the steel and pellet capacity in its Angul unit. The company plans to complete the expansion by 2024-25.
As a part of its steel expansion, the company plans to set up a Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) of 3.3mn mt by 2023-24 and a 3mn mt Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) by 2024-25.
It plans to increase pellet production capacity to 6mn mt by the fiscal year 2022-23 and double it to 12mn mt by 2023-24.
After the expansion, JSPL annual steel production capacity would reach 15.9mn mt and pellet capacity to 21mn mt by FY25.
JSPL Angul unit in Odisha is an integrated steel plant with a production capacity of 5.6mn mt — consisting of 4.25mn mt of Blast Furnace, a 1.8mn mt DRI unit and 1.2mn mt plate mill.
