Jiuquan Iron & Steel (Jisco) exported 3,000mt of stainless steel products to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, marking the company’s first ever exports to the African continent. The products are used for manufacturing equipment for the Tengkefeng Gurumei Mining Project.
The order was placed by Luoyang Molybdenum Holding’s, a subsidiary Tengkefeng Gurumei Mining Project. This batch of SS product were used in the production of cobalt sinking feeder which requires strength and corrosion resistance.
Jiuquan’s won the export order through China’s ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative. The company plans to further its brand influence and increase profitability through such projects. The company is the largest steel producer in north-west China with three major steel production bases. Jiuquan has annual capacity to produce 10mn mt iron, 12mn mt steel including 1.2mn mt of stainless steel. The company has also acquired the Alpart bauxite refinery in Jamaica.
