Vehicle production rose by 6.6pc to 3mn mt in the Jan-Apr 2021 against the same year-ago period, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). Passenger car production rose by 5.4pc to 2.5mn as truck production climbed by 17.7pc to 423,321 units, and buses declined by 28.8pc to 24,822, all against the same four-month period in 2020.

 

Japanese auto output climbed by 64.4pc to 721,363 units in April 2021. Passenger car production increased by 69pc to 607,516 units while trucks rose by 51.4pc to 107,614 units, and buses climbed by 64.4pc to 6,233 units, all against the same year-ago month. 

 

Motorcycle production for the Jan-Apr 2021 period grew by 21.71pc to 229,752 units against the same period in 2020.

 

Japan exported 1.4mn units in the vehicle category in Jan-Apr 2021, with 533,455 shipped to North America, 220,634 to Europe, 157,646 shipped to Oceania, 136,657 to Middle-East Asia, 33,776 to South America, and 42,702 to Central America.
