Eramet’s Weda Bay nickel smelter complex in Jakarta has resumed operations after ceasing production for a day as a result of flooding in an industrial area.

The complex is jointly operated by Eramet and China’s Tsingshan Holding Group, with a capacity to produce 30,000mt of nickel in a year. The smelter opened in late April.

The Indonesian government has made the complex a priority because it’s trying to supplant imported nickel with domestic production.
