Italy’s crude steel production declined by 12.2pc in 2020 to 20.3mn mt compared to the previous year, according to the Italian Steel producers Association (Federacciai).
In December, however, the country’s crude steel output rose by 15.6pc to 1.62mn mt compared with the same month in 2019, Federacciai reported.
Italy’s long steel product output in 2020 dropped by 9.5pc to 11.1mn mt compared to the same period in 2019 but rose by 12.3pc to 861,000 mt last month from December 2019.
The country’s flat steel production fell by 16.2pc to 9.48mn mt in the 12-month period from the same time in 2019 but was up by 36.5pc to 827,000mt in December 2020 compared to the same month in the prior year.
