In the first six months of of the current Iranian year (Mar 20-Sep19), the country produced 11.3mn mt of steel products like beams, rebars, angles, studs and sheets, an increase by 8pc from 10.73mn mt in the preceding year period.
Iran produced 14.392mn mt of steel ingots (billets, blooms and slabs) in Apr-Sep, up by 10pc from 13.89mn mt in the prior year period, according to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro)
The sponge iron production in the first six months stood at 15.562mn mt, up by 10pc from the year prior.
The country plans to boost steel ingot production by 3.2mn mt in the current year.
