Iran produced 16.74mn mt of semi-finished and finished steel products in the first four months of the current Iranian year (which starts on March 20 every year), up by 7.22pc from the prior year period, stated Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization’s (Imidro) report. This includes finished steel output of 9.48mn mt.
Billets and bloom output rose by 8pc to 5.56mn mt, while slab output rose by 10pc to 3.92mn mt compared to the prior year period.
The country produced 7.25mn mt of various steel products like beams, rebars, sheets, angles and studs, up by 5pc from 6.93mn mt in the prior year period.
Sponge iron production registered a 12pc increase in the output to 10.58mn mt in the first four months from 9.46mn mt in the prior year period.
