Iran’s main steel producers’ semi-finished steel output in the first eight months (Mar 20-Nov 20, 2020) of the Iranian calendar stood at 15.13mn mt, up by 8pc from the prior-year period, according to media reports citing data from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro). In the eighth month (Aban) of the Iranian calendar (Oct22-Nov 20, 2020), the top steelmakers produced 1.97mn mt of semi-finished steel.

 

Iran’s finished steel output in the Mar-Nov period rose by 5pc to 9.67mn mt from the prior-year period, while in the eighth month, it increased by 15pc to 1.235mn mt as compared to the same month in the preceding year.

 

Top Iranian steel producer Mobarakeh Steel Company’s (MSC) semi-finished steel product output in the first eight months stood at 6.68mn mt, up by 7pc from the prior-year period.

In the same period, the company produced 5.5mn mt of finished steel products, making it Iran’s largest steel producer.

The company’s output during the eighth month stood at 837,715mt, up by 11pc from the same month in the preceding year.

 

MSC was followed by Khuzestan Steel Company (KSC) which produced 2.59mn mt of semi-steel products in the 8-month period, up by 3pc from the same period in the prior year.

In the eighth month, the KSC’s semi-fished steel output stood at 314,218mt, up by 2pc from the prior-year period.

 

Esfahan Steel Company’s semi-finished product output in the Mar-Nov period fell by 3pc to 1.551mn mt from the same period in the preceding year, while in the eighth Iranian month, it declined by 14pc to 188,987mt as compared to the same month year prior.

 

In the Mar-Nov period, South Kaveh Steel Company’s semi-finished steel output stood at 822,722mt, up 5pc from the prior-year period, while in the eighth month it grew by 38pc to 138,847mt as compared to previous fiscal.

 

In the Mar-Nov period, Khorasan Steel Company’s semi-finished steel product output fell by 13pc to 656,926mn, while Chadormalu Steel Company’s output for the same fell by 2pc to 652,221mt from the same period in the previous year.

 

Chadormalu’s semi-finished steel output in the eighth month stood at 94,386mt, up by 4pc from the eighth month (Aban) in the previous Iranian year.

 

In terms of finished steel products, MSC was followed by ESCO with 1.517mt of finished products in the 8-month period. Other key producers of finished products were Khorasan Steel Company, Bonab Sheet Company, Ahvaz Rolling and Pipe Manufacturing Company, Azarbaijan Steel Company, Sirjan Steel Company, and INSIG. 

 

Iran’s annual steel output capacity is expected to reach 43.6mn mt by (March 2021) and aims to increase crude steel output capacity to 55mn by 2025.
