Iran’s major steelmakers exported 673,772mt of steel, rising 83pc in the eighth month of the Iranian year (Mar 21-Nov 21), through to Nov 21, from the same period the prior year.

The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation (Imidro) released data that showed Khouzestan Steel as Iran’s largest steel exporter, with exports of 182,483mt, occupying a 27pc share of exports.

Mobarakeh Steel (MSC) exported 116,103mt, Esfahan Steel (Esco) exports were at 97,206mt, South Kaveh Steel (SKS) at 88,500mt and MSC subsidiary Hormozgan Steel at 80,592mt.

Imidro previously reported that, the crude steel output for steelmakers rose 6pc in Nov, till the 21st, to 1.75mn mt, with direct reduced iron (DRI) up 13pc to 2.33mn mt.

Iron ore pellet output increased 8pc to 3.38mn mt and iron ore concentrate output rose 3pc to 3.93mn mt, both for the month, till Nov 21, over the same period last year.

However, finished steel output dropped 4pc to 1.06mn mt.

Iran’s metal trades have risen despite US sanctions imposed earlier this year as market participants believe it is difficult to identify the exports happening via third parties, in this case free ports and free trade zones of other countries.

In the first eight months of the Iranian year (March 21-Nov 21), the country exported 4.72mn mt of steel, registering 15pc growth from the same period prior year.

KSC located in the southwestern Khuzestan Province exported 1.2mn mt of steel that dropped 17pc on year, MSC located in Isfahan, was the second biggest exporter exporting 1mn mt up 36pc on year and ESCO exported 779,000mt respectively.

In the same period (March 21-Nov 21), Iranian crude steel production rose 5pc on the year to 17.44mn mt.

Mobarakeh Steel production was the highest at 6.28mn mt, 36pc of total steel output, followed by Khouzestan Steel at 2.51mn mt and Esfahan Steel at 1.6mn mt.

Pellet output was at 27.74mn mt and iron ore concentrate output up 4pc to 31.5mn mt for the year.

Finished steel output increased 7pc to 13.56mn mt for the Iranian year, till November 21.
