Iran’s aluminum ingot production in the first seven months (Mar 20-Oct 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar rose by 69pc to 247,335mt from 146,296mt in the prior-year period, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).
The country had set up two aluminum ingot production plants -Jajarm Aluminum and Southern Aluminum Phase 1 – which have played an important role in increasing aluminum ingot production in the Mar-Oct period.
In the seventh month (Sep 22-Oct 21), the country’s aluminum ingot output stood at 35,556mt, up by 56pc from the prior year.
Of the total output produced in the Mar-Oct, Iranian Aluminium Company (Iralco) produced 109,302mt of aluminum ingots, up by 4pc from the prior-year period.
Apart from aluminum ingots, Iralco also produced 139,307mt of alumina powder, 465,581mt of bauxite, 235,358 mt of aluminum hydrate, and 65,041mt of lime.
Hormozal and Al-Mahdi’s aluminum ingot output stood at 53,375 and 39,079mt, respectively. Salco produced 32,142mt of the aluminum ingot in the Mar-Oct period, while Alumina Iran’s output stood at 13,438mt in the same period.
Iran plans to increase aluminum ingot production by 63pc by the end of the current year (March 20, 2021) and expand its annual aluminum ingot capacity to 1.5mn mt by the Iranian year 1404 (March 2025-March 2026).
