Iran based Khouzestan Steel (KSC) exported 1.3mn mt of finished steel in Mar 21-Dec 21, 2019, the first nine months of the Iranian year. 

Despite KSC’s exports declining by 17pc in this period from the year prior, the company remained Iran’s largest exporter, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Immidro).

 

KSC supplied 108,127mt of steel products in the period, down by 22pc from the year prior. Most products were exported to the Middle East and North African regions, followed by the Far East and the Americas.

 

Iran’s major steelmakers together exported 5.2mn mt in the period, up by 9pc from the prior year period. According to World Steel Association, the country’s crude steel production was at 2.13mn mt in Nov 2019, down by 2.6pc from 2.187mn mt in Nov 2018. 

 

MSC remained the largest steel producer

Mobarakeh Steel Company’s (MSC) output was at 13.26mn mt, in the nine months ending Dec. 21, 2019. MSC produced 6.19mn mt of finished steel and 7.06mn mt of semi-finished steel products. 

 

MSC’s production of finished steel rose by 2pc in the period from the prior year and production of semi-finished steel remained unchanged from the prior year, according to the Immidro.
