Ingots produced by top Iranian steelmakers in the first three months of the Iranian calendar (March 21-June 20, 2021) stood at 6.18mn mt, a 9pc rise from the prior-year period, according to local media reports. From May 21 -June 20, these companies produced 1.84mn mt of steel ingots, 5pc down from the prior-year period.
Production by Mobarakeh steel accounted for 43pc of the total 2.68mn mt, while South Kaveh Steel company witnessed an 80pc growth.
These steelmakers also produced 3.89mn mt of steel products, including rebars, rectangles, belts and coils, wide and galvanized sheets, and beams in the quarter, a 3pc rise over the prior year period.
Steel exports by the top producers stood at 2.78mn mt in the quarter, a 128pc rise from the same quarter in 2020. In the last month of the quarter, exports stood at 916,236mt of steel, a 104pc rise over the last year.
Khuzestan steel company contributed the highest share for steel exports with 523,321mt, followed by Esfahan steel company with 315,844mt, and Mobarakeh steel company with 267,861mt.
